The steel is resistant to wear. It is composed of 1-13% of carbon and 11-14% of manganese. It has a fixed austenitic structure, which turns into martensite under pressure put on the outer layer. This process contributes to the constant self-hardening of this steel under pressure. It is mainly used in case of a contact of movable metal elements. Lining of such elements protects their structure, extends their lifetime and causes wear of the sliding connection made of manganese, but the structure itself is not affected. We deal with complex processing of this steel by making openings, trimming various shapes, bending, milling, increasing hardness to 32-40 HRC and other special processes connected with processing of this type of steel, including welding.
